Information We Collect

When you sign the endorsement, we collect:

• Phone number - Used only for verification and duplicate prevention. We never store your actual phone number. Instead, we store a one-way cryptographic hash that cannot be reversed.
• ZIP code prefix - We store only the first 3 digits of your ZIP code to show your approximate region on the map while protecting your specific location.
• Referral information - If you signed through someone's referral link, we track that connection to show referral statistics.

How We Use Your Information

• Display anonymous endorsement locations on the public map
• Prevent duplicate endorsements from the same phone number
• Calculate and display referral statistics
• Show the total count of endorsements

Data Security

We take your privacy seriously:

• Phone numbers are hashed using HMAC-SHA256 with a secret key before storage. This is a one-way process - we cannot retrieve your actual phone number from the hash.
• Only 3-digit ZIP code prefixes are stored, representing broad regional areas rather than specific neighborhoods.
• Your phone number is stored locally on your device for display purposes only and is never sent to our servers in plain text after initial verification.

Third-Party Services

We use Firebase Authentication to verify phone numbers via SMS. Firebase is operated by Google and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties. The only publicly visible data is:

• Approximate location (3-digit ZIP region) shown as a dot on the map
• Referral statistics (counts only, no personal information)
• Total endorsement count

Data Retention

Your endorsement data is retained indefinitely as part of the public record of this statement. Since we only store hashed phone numbers and regional ZIP codes, this data cannot be used to identify you personally.

Your Rights

Due to the nature of cryptographic hashing, we cannot look up or delete your specific endorsement based on your phone number. If you have concerns about your data, please contact us.
